The Government has increased the percentage limit of aid for works directed only by women from 50 to 75 percent of the cost, while the limit for people with disabilities stands at 80 percent, as stated in the Royal Decree-Law that the government has approved this week with a package of measures aimed at supporting the cultural sector to deal with the situation arising from Covid-19, and which includes various tax incentives for films.

This decree modifies the Corporation Tax law, so that exceptions are established for deductions on production costs, which generally cannot exceed 50 percent, together with the rest of the aid received.

In addition to films directed entirely by women, there is also an exception in the limit of deductions and aid for films directed exclusively by people with a degree of disability equal to or greater than 33 percent, in which case the aid limit is at 80 percent.

Likewise, the limit of aid to short films goes from 75 to 85 percent; while the percentage for productions directed by a person who has not directed or co-directed more than two feature films qualified for commercial exploitation in movie theaters, whose production budget does not exceed 1.5 million euros, stands at 80 percent, percentage in which the productions shot entirely in any of the co-official languages other than Spanish that are screened in Spain in that co-official language or subtitled are also located.
