Mother had to carry disabled child to an airplane in Magnitogorsk, Russia

The mother of a 12 year old teenager with a disability had to carry him on board an airplane at the international airport of Magnitogorsk, according to the press service of the Ural Transport Prosecutor’s Office.

The ground service officer did not help them when boarding the plane, although the airport has a special lifting device. The mother informed the ground personal  of Magnitogorsk Airport in advance that they would need help with boarding . In accordance with the Air Code of the Russian Federation and federal aviation rules, passengers with disabilities need special transportation conditions and the need to provide special means of transportation (including wheelchairs), as well as services for boarding and disembarking the aircraft.

A senior ground officer  met the woman with a disabled child at the entrance to the airport terminal, accompanied them during check-in and baggage check-in. But he did not help passengers further the woman had to carry the 12-year-old disabled child in her arms, although the airport has a special lifting device – a step ladder for boarding.
