Shanghai Introduces Films with Audio Description for Blind People

People watching movie

People with vision disabilities can go to the “Love Cinemas” in Shanghai to enjoy the movie Lost in Russia with their family and friends. The project aims to help people who are blind enter any movie theater and watch movies with audio description, reports SIFF.

Cinema halls need to install wireless earphones and transmitters to play audio described movie, which make a movie accessible to moviegoers with vision disabilities.

Fifty Cinema halls across the city and shopping centers have joined the project.

The production of the audio description has been completed and will be available when the film Lost in Russia opens theatrically.

Chinese actor Huang Xuan (male lead of Feng Xiaogang’s Only Cloud Knows) serves as the interpreter. Another film Vanguard is also in the process of the soundtrack production.
