Toronto, Ontario – Yesterday, Kate Young, Parliamentary Secretary to the Honourable Carla Qualtrough, Minister of Public Services and Procurement and Accessibility, attended the ReelAbilities Film Festival in Toronto. The festival showcases filmmakers and actors with disabilities and reflects deaf and disability cultures in films that aim to raise awareness and promote inclusion.

During the event, Parliamentary Secretary Young highlighted federal funding of $400,000 over the next four years through the Disability Component of the Social Development Partnerships Program, for the ReelEducation program, an initiative of the ReelAbilities Film Festival.

Led by the Miles Nadal Jewish Community Centre, the ReelEducation program helps raise awareness and promotes inclusion by offering free streaming of films, as well as learning resource kits for educators and administrators.
