Greek Shipping and Island Policy Minister, FotisKouvelis, announced that passenger vessels will need to become disability friendly from this year.
Kouvelis noted that shipping companies must make their vessels accessible and safe for people with motor disabilities by May 1, 2019, according to a memorandum signed at the end of last year.
The decision obliges shipping companies to install proper elevators and lifting devices, designate specific spaces for parking of cars disabled people are travelling with or being dropped off from, areas where their wheelchairs can be secured, and specially trained personnel to help them once on board.
