Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) – Ratified on October 1st, 2008. Costa Rica’sCRPD State Party reports submitted to the Office of the High Commissioner on Human Rights (OHCHR).
Important legislation in Costa Rica include: Act on Equal Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities and its Regulations (Act No. 7600), Act Establishing the National Council on Rehabilitation and Special Education, which is currently the lead entity on disability, the Act Establishing the Office of the Ombudsman, and the General Police Act (arts. 10, 16 and 17).
