The Northern Beaches Local Business Awards for 2021 are fast approaching, and Northern Beaches Council is once again sponsoring the Disability Inclusion and Sustainability categories of the awards program as well as a major sponsor of the overall awards.

Mayor Michael Regan urged residents to support their favourite local businesses by nominating them for an award across a range of categories.

“These annual awards are an opportunity to thank local businesses for their continued service to our community during what has been a most challenging year. As well, we want to encourage local businesses to be innovative or inventive in their approaches to disability inclusion and sustainability.

“The Disability Inclusion Award provides an opportunity to acknowledge and promote businesses that serve the whole community and aim to accommodate everyone’s needs regardless of their ability.

“One in five Australians have some kind of disability, so making your business accessible is as good for business as it is for the community. Other groups that benefit from better access include older people, families with young children and overseas visitors.

“Businesses will also benefit from adopting sustainable practices, such as energy efficiency measures, waste reduction and sustainable sourcing through their supply chains,” Mayor Regan said.

Anyone can nominate a business for the Disability Inclusion or Sustainability award. You can submit nominations of deserving local businesses on Council’s website. Self-nominations are also welcome, so take this opportunity to showcase how your business is supporting our environment and community.

To be eligible, nominated businesses must operate within the Northern Beaches local government area and address other eligibility criteria. More information about the disability inclusion and sustainability awards is available on the Northern Beaches Council website.

Nominations for the Northern Beaches Local Business Disability Inclusion Award and Sustainability Award close on 7 June 2021.

Winners will be announced at the Northern Beaches Local Business Awards Gala Presentation on 11 August at the Dee Why RSL Club.
