CaixaBank announced on Monday the entity’s new commitment to adapted sport after its commitment to the “Sports Mavericks” campaign created to accompany Paralympic athletes to the Tokyo 2020 Games.

The financial entity has signed a new collaboration agreement with the Spanish Federation of Sports for People with Physical Disabilities (FEDDF) through which it will cover the registration costs of 1,300 athletes who compete in any of the official events organized by said Federation in the 14 specialties of its national calendar: athletics, wheelchair basketball, boccia, downhill skiing, snowboarding, slalom, electric wheelchair hockey, swimming, wheelchair paddle tennis, weightlifting, wheelchair rugby, Olympic shooting, Clay shooting and soccer for amputees.

In this way, the registration fee for the Spanish will be fully financed by CaixaBank during the 2020/2021 season in support of the participation of athletes with physical disabilities in the state competitions organized by the FEDDF.

For the president of the Federation, José Alberto Álvarez, “this implies an important support to our federated sport, a support for all our federative structures that will facilitate the participation of their athletes or teams in competitions and will cover all the sports specialties, competitions throughout the year, at the state level. ”

CaixaBank has highlighted the relevance of the agreement. “For CaixaBank, it is important to maintain our firm commitment to adapted sports, which began in 2016. During this period of time, we have been working to promote different sports modalities and give visibility to Paralympic athletes. In the current context, we believe that it is the moment to reaffirm our commitment helping all these athletes to continue with their daily preparation,” they explained.
