During the country’s contingency period to avoid COVID-19 infections, the physical activation of the population is of vital importance and people with disabilities must also have a certain exercise routine.

Raúl Medina Torres, member of the Wheelchair Sports Association, in Mexico, explained that during isolation people with disabilities need to follow an exercise routine, so he gave some tips about exercise that people can do in wheelchairs.

The Mexican coach explained that very simple exercises can be developed with materials that he has at home and that do not need a large space; like getting on and off your chair, which serves to strengthen your arms.

One example is to perform an exercise routine with water bottles, people must lift from the knee height, front and side to the shoulders, with arms extended, place the bottle at shoulder height and extend the arms above of the head, doing four sets of 12 and 15 repetitions, with a rest of 30 seconds in each one.

Finally, Raúl Medina indicated that different physical activities can be developed with easily available materials, such as garters, to work the shoulders, biceps and triceps.
