The Royal Board on Disability, through the Spanish Center for Documentation on Disability (CEDD), has published online a selection of stories about disability to promote education in values, during the state of alarm, coinciding with International Children’s Book Day and Youth that is commemorated today.
As explained by the agency, the objective of the stories about disability is to promote reading among schoolchildren, thus taking advantage of the free time from confinement, caused by the Covid-19 crisis. In addition, the titles will serve to have a good time with the family and work on values such as empathy, diversity, equal opportunities or solidarity, which is so necessary at times like those that are being lived in Spain.
There are 25 stories about disability in total, aimed at children and youth, which can be viewed both on PC screens and on mobile devices or tablets, completely free of charge. Among the titles are the collection of ‘Tales that spread illusion’, ‘Pablo’s secret’, ‘I am different but just like you’ and ‘Oliver and his headphones’, among others.
The Royal Board on Disability, through its CEDD advisory center, leads this type of action to promote social inclusion and comply with the provisions of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Furthermore, with initiatives like this, society is made aware of the importance of respecting equality among people.
