Chile issues decalogue with recommendations against Coronavirus

Ten special recommendations for people with disabilities, or for those who support or care for people with disabilities during the COVID-19 emergency quarantine period.

“This is the time to take care of each other. For this reason, we will be disseminating this information, so that people with disabilities, and their caregivers during the quarantine period, have information on how to react to this Coronavirus emergency, where care and hygiene must be extreme ”

The charts include recommendations on how to clean technical aids such as canes or mobile devices, as well as what to do inside the house with cleaning supplies or personal hygiene routines.

“A call to the more than two million people with disabilities, their families and caregivers to take the necessary measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Inform people with disabilities, either through protocols for residences, or through social networks, in order to work together to face this contingency.

For example, using technologies such as WhatsApp to communicate with people with hearing disabilities in the absence of a sign interpreter while being attended. This, in addition to other measures such as maintaining the cleanliness of switches in rooms or public places in order to allow them to interact with others in a situation that is more stressful than normal for everyone.

What if I take care for someone with vision disabilities during quarantine? The recommendations also suggest not to move cleaning supplies for avoiding disorienting people with vision disabilities, as well as allowing their identification and access through different size containers.
