In the residences of people with intellectual disabilities they have sharpened the ingenuity to cope with the shortage of hygienic means, such as masks, and have created their own.
From hard plastics that are used to bind, similar to rubber, the Provincial Union of Associations of People with Intellectual Disabilities of Alicante, has created masks that can be washed and disinfected as many times as necessary.
“It is A4-size plastic that is drilled in the upper corners and that is tied behind the neck with a ribbon,” they explain.
Professionals manage to remain protected and be able to care for people with disabilities both in residences and in homes throughout the province.
Each center maintains an average of 60 residents, whom they have to attend to with the few hygienic means available to them.
