The Torrent Disability Integration Association (ASIDIT), has developed the Torrent Accessible app; a guide that collects the levels of accessibility in the public buildings, shops, hospitality and sports facilities of the city.
In the application, the association, which works for the social integration of people with disabilities, analyses the spaces, such as the access area, the interior and, above all, the bathroom area. Thus, Torrent becomes one of the few cities of less than 100,000 inhabitants that have such an initiative.
To assess accessibility, the application will display three categories: adapted, practicable and not accessible. The first, adapted, is one that meets the minimum conditions of accessibility, such as ramp, interior space, services or automatic doors.
Practicable is that in which we can find some obstacles, such as step in access to the premises (not more than 3 cm), ramps that do not conform to the regulations but are salvageable, not adequate interior spaces, the toilets, among others. And finally, the inaccessible, which are those that do not meet the minimum conditions of accessibility.
At the moment the app is only available for Android, but soon it will be available for all operating systems.
