A total of 26 Young Leaders with and without intellectual disabilities, along with their mentors, met at the first Regional Leadership Summit in Latin America.
During the activity the participants shared ideas on how to further promote inclusion.
Young people discussed the need to promote inclusive youth leadership in the 2030 Development Agenda.
Some of the special guests of the event were:
- Pamela Molina, Disability Specialist of the Organization of American States.
- Rebeca Arias Flores, United Nations Resident Coordinator in Guatemala.
- Reginaldo Sierra, National Scout Chief of Scouts Guatemala.
- Claudia Echeverry, President and Regional Director of Special Olympics Latin America.
The event also featured members of the diplomatic corps, special guests, exhibitors and celebrities.
Over the course of 4 days, the young participants received the tools, knowledge, and resources to strengthen their vision of inclusion.
Through the “Leader to Include” project, the legacy of empowering young people will continue. The purpose is for them to become agents of inclusion in their communities.
